Group One

Cats have formed a major component of human life and existence, and as a result, they do deserve care. With the advancements in the field of robotics and technology, it is important and consequently possible to have a human robotics interaction system that allows for assistive handling of cats (Day & Sandra, 2013).

The cats can find this type of HRI to be a major supplement of the day-to-day interactions with humans. It can be used to imitate human sounds and reactions which ensures that even in the absence of the cat handler or owner. Cats are known to prefer solitude and having an HRI that can be a companion when they need it is key to its comfort (Walker, 2016).

With a need to achieve an improvement in the day to day handling of cats, it is important to ensure that the HRI will be as close to the perceptions of human service as possible either through a peer-like model or a mentor model that ensures that the person exists within the practice (Walker, 2016).

Group Two

Cat owners are involved in some tasks which do form the basis for this project. A cat owner does ensure that the kitten is well fed and that the feeding is on time (Day & Sandra, 2013).

The HRI program does ensure that the cat is not only provided with these primary needs but that they are within a flexible and adjustable schedule (Walker, 2016). The program, therefore, acts as a time and routine manager.

Grooming is another important aspect for any pet owner. It does ensure that the cat remains not only healthy but also socially inclined. A cat owner fixes within his routine activities geared towards ensuring that the cat remains fit and cheerful. Thus, this can enable anyone handling the cat to comfort it even in the absence of the cat owners.

Design proposal

There is the critical need to ensure that the most fundamental element of the human-pets relationship is taken care of and this is the communication part that creates an HRI program suitable for handling a cat. The design, therefore, will make sure that the aspects that define how communication is created and maintained by this interaction are all adhered to (Day & Sandra, 2013).

It, therefore, means that the HRI will factor in the human-centered design approach. As far as the context of use is concerned, the plan does aim to factor in the interactional elements to their entirety which can be achievable by ensuring that all behavioral and psychological traits between the two users are factored in (Day & Sandra, 2013).

The problem statement underlines the possible application of the HRI. The HRI seeks to create an autonomous model that can be used by the cat owners to (Walker, 2016); [1] monitor the movements of the cats, [2] ensure a routine is simulated that suits the feeding patterns of the cat(s), and [3] address the issue of grooming through a two-pronged approach that allows for comfort with or without the owner.

The design research plan seeks to have a manifest perusal of major peer-reviewed work to establish various aspects of the project. It is important to have an understanding of the behavioral characteristics of a cat and its interaction with humans. A study of their psychology will form the basis for this. At the input and output levels, these projects seek to address the tenets of companionship, trust as well as disclosure (Walker, 2016). Things such as program/robotic life will factor the battery life will is projected to stand at around 7000 milliampere-hour and can last 60 hours after full charge.
