I was brought up in a Christian family where people were firm believers. My family members believed that "everyone is created in Gods image (Hoekema, 2014). As a child, I was concerned about the variance in the behavior of different persons. Watching a documentary about Africans struggle for independence increased my desire to understand the various behaviors among individuals (Meyer,2009). The integration of the colonials and the native occupants of the land led me to develop an interest in psychology.
The behaviors manifested in the documentary were contrary to what the Bible opined. In fact, the acts were unacceptable in any society. It resulted in the buildup of many unanswered questions. The phenomena manifested in the plays made me develop an inner curiosity of wanting to know exactly why a person created in the image of God could possess such a different behavior. Perhaps, this is why in my lower classes I developed a book where I noted the actions of persons that were contrary to the accepted ones by the society.
As I advanced in the higher level of learning, there erupted vices such as terrorism. By then, there were minimal cases of killing in our state. However, things changed drastically and there developed a group of persons whose mission was to kill anybody whom they came across. These individuals had such different views of life that they could sacrifice their lives to have their mission of destroying accomplished. The development of the terrorist groups affected me even further. I developed an interest to see that I make a mark in the prevention of the worlds trend in terrorism. My extensive research work and reading led me to embark on a study of psychology. I wanted to establish the relationship between the brain, environment and the behavior of different persons.
I started my career as trained medical soldier in the USA. I worked in the position close to six years where I got the chance to serve many soldiers. During my tenure, there was adverse hatred between the Afghanistan and the Iraq. It resulted in the increase in cases of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on the affected persons. Being close to a person suffering from the ailments made it hard for me to understand what was going on as the patient. The patient showed a direct relationship between the symptoms and the behavior (Horowitz, 2007). As a professional working with the families and the friends of the affected persons, my job was to socialize with and help the bereaved families. As more and more persons suffered the PTSD complication, I too got depressed. I could not bear to see the families conditions worsen day after day.
The year 2011 marked a change in my life. I had a major accident which forced me to undergo eight surgeries. The pain and the suffering I went through resulted in the development of advanced PTSD diseases which had never been realized before. I had contacted the ailments but fortunately, under the help and watch of able doctors, I was encouraged and my hope restored. Upon my recovery, I discovered that there were still a lot of expertise and knowledge needed in the field of clinical Psychology. In order to help in narrowing the gap, I made a bold step and applied for a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. I chose to study this particular course in the Argosy University due to its established reputation as far as Psychology is concerned. My qualification to perform in this field is beyond doubt due to my ability to pursue and graduate with Master of Science in General Psychology form the Capella University. Besides, I own a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree from the same university.
My Impact in the field of Psychology
Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to helping persons with diverse problems. Being a victim of the accident and PTSD prepared me well to handle all cases that require attention.
It has seen me work at Tri-City Hospital as a volunteer. During weekend and leisure time, I mostly offer voluntary services to the adjacent communities. The experience has led me to learn about the communitys problems. Among the many issues that the community faces are lesbianism and gays that have attracted both the old and the young. As the behavioral change in the sex is on the rise, I have dedicated myself to establishing the source to get the cure for the behavior.
Skills and the abilities
My working career is in line with the desire to see the way forward for the lesbians and the gays. I believe the self-dedication that I have on the subject will result in the discovery of the diagnosis of the disease. Based on Psychology, I think the change in the human behavior will be entirely eradicated (Arnold, 2005). As a psychologist, I believe upon close examination of the person there will be a detailed solution to the change in the sexual behavior.
Importance of the Practitioner scholar
The relationship of the two will ensure that I get the required skills and experience to have my dream realized. I believe that Ph.D. in Psychology will have the added benefits of increased knowledge in the analysis of the given condition and the diagnosis required.
Importance
Human beings are in continuous evolvement (Nonaka, 2003). They show different changes in the behavior as characterized by the emergence of the lesbians and the gays. The evolutionary change required and up-to date knowledge from the field of Psychology would help in providing accurate data based on the on ongoing research on the topics. The result will be better treatment of the patients.
