Retain and Recall More Information. n.d.). Imagination enhances effectiveness and visualization of a phenomenon that is potent to your recall process. Association is a method that organizes memory in that; the things are encoded chronologically to enhance the information that is recalled. The location offers a platform for separating mnemonics. Also, location improves the coherence of the context.
Question 2: Describe three specific mnemonics as described on the mind tool website.
Image mnemonic, name mnemonic, and music mnemonic are among the techniques used to improve memory.
Image mnemonics encodes the information in form of a picture that promotes recall of the information whenever you need it. The images are linked to associate to specific or related information to boost memory (9 Types of Mnemonics for Better Memory. n.d.). The images might be mental or sketched in a book. As long as you understand what the sketch means, the technique can help an individual to learn and remember.
In name mnemonics techniques, when presented with a list of items, the first letter of each word is used to make a list of something that is familiar thus can be remembered easily. For example, the names of the planet: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune can be shortened by a mnemonic for remembering the order as, My Vey Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles
Music mnemonic serves to translate important information into lyrics to boost the ability to remember the main concept. A learner can make a song out of the information presented. For example, at Kindergarten children learner ABC by reciting the ABC song.
Question 3. What kind of problem that plague my memory?
Apparently, some of the problems that plague my mind include problem with my long-term memory, I find it difficult to remember the days of every month in the calendar, and I struggle to encode sophisticated information that is not summarized by a picture or a diagram. I think embracing the technique of image mnemonic can help me to overcome the problem of grasping complex or sophisticated information. I can opt to utilize the method to summarize the information by sketching a picture that can help me to relate and remember the information.
To counter the problem of grasping sophisticated information, image mnemonic is the most appropriate to avert my problem. I could link the images to associate them to specific or related information to boost memory (9 Types of Mnemonics for Better Memory. n.d.). I might sketch the images in a book or preserve in my memory. As long I understand what the sketch means, the technique can help me to learn and remember complicated information.
