The effectiveness of an organization is a very important aspect. It is a factor of the outcomes an organization wishes and intends to produce as far as the effectiveness of systems, process and procedures are concerned. Organization effectiveness provides a competitive advantage because it is associated with the reduction in cost as well as the maximization of profits within an organization. Understanding the aspect of organizational behavior can be very instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness of the organization. Organizational Behavior enables managers to understand how people within the organization operate and they can use this knowledge to enhance their performance. There are different perspectives to the aspect of organization effectiveness and are all influenced by organizational behavior. They include natural systems perspective, rational perspective, and open system perspective. This essay will analyze various aspects of perspectives that can be used to understand the effectiveness of an organization (Lombardo, 2017).

Perspectives

The first perspective that is crucial to the understanding and measurement of the effectiveness of an organization is the natural system. This is a perspective based on support goals of an organization such as interpersonal skills of the employees, morale, participant satisfaction and many other. It is a very important aspect of organization theory that provides a unique perspective in the understanding of how they work. With natural systems perspective, informal organization aspects, as well as structures of interpersonal relations within the organization, are given more emphasis than other formal factors. It is based on the understanding that bringing together different people with different interest, capabilities, and attitudes may help in the development of a consensus that is beneficial to an organization. Effectiveness in understanding the behavior of an organization is mostly easier when using informal social structures because sometimes goals within an organization are multiple and conflicting (Natural Systems Theory, 2017).

The second one is the rational perspective is the one that is used in most cases because it is associated variables of output such as productivity and quality because of the much focus put on the attainment of particular goals of an organization. It is different to natural perspectives because of its use of formal structures to define the effectiveness of an organization. About organizational behavior, rational perspectives use formal social structures that are dedicated to the achievement of the specific goals of the organization. People within the organization work together for the attainment of the goals and objectives which are mostly associated with the variable of output. This perspective uses formal social structures for the definition of the goals members of the organization are mandated to achieving. It fails to consider other informal underlying factors that may affect organizational behavior. It uses well-defined goals which are developed centrally within the organization and given to the members of the organization to work on them (Thompson, 2017).

The last perspective is the open system. This is a perspective that is based on environmental factors as influences of organizational effectiveness. The term environment in this sense is used to refer to the resources that an organization gets access to and uses for the purpose of growth development and sustenance. It is also used to refer to other organizations that have influence in economic social, and political factors. The open system perspective is used in the description of the effectiveness of an organization by looking at how it utilizes the aspect of the environment for the production process and general development of the organization. Organizational behavior is looked in the sense of how people within the organization understand and utilize the environment for the success of the organization. Aspects of the environment include factors such as how an organization can adapt to changes in the industry and maximize production as well as profitability in relation to the characteristics of the environment in which it operates. It also includes the aspects of flexibility which is important in important in the enhancement of the effectiveness of an organization regardless of different circumstances (Bastedo, 2004).

Conclusion

Organizational theory is very important to the understanding of the way they operate. The theories are associated with the various perspectives that are important to the understanding of how organizational effectiveness can be achieved. The above analysis explores the three different types of perspectives that explain various aspects of organization theory. Rational, natural and open systems are three different perspectives that provide a different understanding of organizational effectiveness. They all provide great insight on different aspects of organizational behavior. Rational perspective is based on form social structures within an organization based on the need to achieve set goals associated with different variables of output. Natural perspective is based on more informal aspects such as moral and interpersonal aspects of the organization as factors that can be used to cater for the different goals of the organization. Open system, on the other hand, is based on aspects of the environment as measures of the effectiveness of the organization. They are, therefore, effective in the description of how organizations perform and show different perspectives of understanding organizational behavior as well as ways of achieving organizational effectiveness (Organizational Behavior, 2017).
