The change in climate has severe consequences on agriculture which have greatly affected the poor people as well as those with low income. Some of the effects that climatic change has affected include failure in crops, the death of livestock. Moreover, these effects have led to the economic loss as well as security in undermining the foods. Effects of climate change are likely to escalate as a result of global warming (Verchot et al., 2007). In the aim to solve this problem, international climatic actions should be created to mobilize the actual plans in the developing nations mainly through financial support. The plan should ultimately address the effects of climatic change. The plans may include incorporation of planting trees in the deforested regions and the use of greenhouses for horticultural purposes. Afforestation helps in reducing greenhouse gas emission that leads to global warming. Additionally, trade of carbon emission is beneficial to agriculture as it benefits uses of land through Requisition of carbon which is used during photosynthesis in plant growth and yielding of crops.

Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change in Agriculture.

Impact of climate change

Most of the areas which are affected by climatic changes are experiencing its impact. The impact experienced will continue to be severe. This is due to global warming and increase in temperatures.

The magnitude is uncertain as the threat to agriculture is also unambiguous. This is as a resulted in the complex association and processes of feedback in the economy and ecosystem. Some of the common factors that affect the productivity in agriculture include changes in precipitation, temperature, climatic variations, fertilization as well as temperature changes. The rise carbon dioxide in the atmosphere causes global warming hence planting trees would help solve the problem. The plants use this gas during photosynthesis hence reducing its composition in the atmosphere.

Adapting to climate change

Agricultural systems should adapt to the techniques that help reduce the negative impact of climatic changes as the impact is being experienced in most parts of the world. Research carried out has shown that the impacts will continue to be severe due to the greenhouse gas emission which is currently not stabilized. The African systems have decided on planting different varieties of crops, adapt to practices of planting crops with a short growing season and modify the planting times. However, there exist barriers to these adaptations such as shortage of agricultural water as perceived in developing countries.

Mitigating climate change through agriculture

Some of the mitigation techniques include afforestation. It consumes in emitted carbon dioxide gas by crops and livestock, nitrous oxide and methane that contributes to a higher percentage of global warming.
