1.1.Background of the study
It is not easy to develop a bench press. It require the use of different materials such as metals and weight lifting equipment. To come up with the idea to improve bench press, we decided to select different product that we could study in our group. We selected bench press after a thorough scrutiny and in the long run we selected a bench press. Most of our group members supported the study of bench press because there have been many accidents which can be avoided in gyms. The equipment being lifted during exercices in gyms usually fall on the person doing the exercice causing unnecsssary injuries and pains. Many complains have been reported on the same issue and nothing has been done to correct the situation. These incidences reported in gyms scares different people who have had negative experience when doing bench press exercise.
1.2.Purpose of the study
The main purpose of this study was to improve the condition of bench press by adding poles of each side in order to improve safety for people doing exercise. It was also to find out the benefits and the main causes of accident in gyms when using bench press.
1.3.Study Objectives
The primary objective of this research is to
Increases safety of people training using bench press
Develop ways of improving the condition of bench press
1.4.The scope of this Study
This study was mainly focused on ways of improving the condition of bench press to allow the students to do exercise in a safe environment. It will not go beyond building poles with racks at different intervals on both sides to prevent the weight lifting gadget from falling on the person doing the exercise.
2.0 Research Methodology
Data was collected from different sources mainly from fellow college students. The students were required to fill in structured questionnaires which composed of standard questions only. Every question had 1-5 answers which the student was to select. Once the completion of the survey, questionnaires were selected and sampled. Only 100 respondents participated in this research study. According to our survey, we interacted with all the potential customers in our target market because we tried to capture youths, adults below the age of 65 years. We also captured people from all income groups to ensure that we captured all the potential customers when conducting the survey. We were also able to see beyond needs of the existing products so that we could only determine the needs of our customers only. We were surprised by some by the need of the customer to address the issue affecting their lives such as the need to build two side poles on the bench press. After the survey we realized that our customers have been facing some challenges that we can solve easily. To solve this problem we need to build or add poles on both side of the bench press to reduce the number of injuries that usually happens when doing exercises.
3.Research Analysis
The main body of a bench press consist of different parts namely swiss ball, bench and a dumpbells. These components of a bench press are assembled together in a condition that allow exercise to go on smoothly. When building the bench press,. It is necessary to fix two poles on both sides. The bench is fixed in between two poles at a distance of one feet. This is to provide adequate space for doing the exercise. The main problem that I consider in my project is falling of the swiss ball. It is also difficult to determine the distance between the two poles on each side.
The bench was made using metals. Its legs and top are made of metals to ensure it is as strong as possible. The specai features of the metal used to make it is that it should be able to bend and strong enough not to break when the exercise is on going. The poles in between the bench must also be made of metals and have metallic racks where the swiss ball are held. Finally the swiss ball are made of very strong metallic plates. These metals are very heavy although they are made of different weights. The main part which I will consider for may project is the side poles which are used to hold the weight or load. It is suitable for my project because it is essential in minimizing acidednt and injuries when properoly fixed by the user.
The main customer of this product include youths who are between the age of 16 to 35 years. These people prefer using bench press to build their muscles. They are very active group which prefer building their body and remain physically fit. This product is not preferred by women and old people. They have no time and strength to do this exercise.
Â
In this project, we also built house quality. The house quality that we created relates to attributes of our customers in order to ensure that the technical designs are made based on their needs. When creating house quality six steps were followed. The first step was to determine the need of customers, followed by identification of technical features of a bench press. The attibutse of customers were then compared with the technical features of the utem. Finally an assessment was made to ensure that the bemnch press was completed effectyively. Once the house quality has been completed, It was identified that the two poles on both sides need to be added in order to increase safety of the trainer.
The part which we plan to improve consist of two metal bars on each side if the bench. It must have racks where the load can rest. The racks should be at different intervals such as within one feet each

Conceptual Design Flow Chart
Â
The parts of this product is connected at different angles suitable for use as bench press. The bench is located in between the two poles. The bench is used for lying when doing the exercise. The poles on both sidfes are used to hold the load when it is not in use.
Conclusion
Develping bench press is of great importance because it improves the safety of the people doing the exercise. It is not simple to develop bench press because it require important engineering concepts such as development of house quality and concept flow chart which is not easy to draw.
