The Article: Factors associated with quality of services for marginalized groups with mental health problems in 14 European countries."

Using what you learned from your reading, what was the research design used in your selected article?

The research presented two quantitative variables shown from a collection of participants hence it uses a correlational research design. Different countries picked for the research and the social, economic factors of each included and tested, one of the research variables was assessed. As per our study for quantitative analysis, the sing subject analysis needs to be conducted for and as per the research, this is realized helping users identify the research design. Another realizable concept from the research is the relationship between multiple variables, for example, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the different countries being correlated with the variables to come up with the basis of the variable correlation analysis. The variables have also been analyzed over a duration of time and helped the researcher come up with a trend for the variables (Costa et al., 2014). The service level variable is the other variables which was used to indicate the quality of service characteristics organization which was analyzed in the research.

What approach to sampling did the authors take in the article, and what evidence was provided to support this? (Refer to Table 7.1 Types of Sampling Strategies Found in Quantitative Research in your course text). Go to website for the text book

Plano Clark & Creswell (2014) quantitative research has a number of sampling strategies to be utilized as seen from the study such strategies include probability sampling which involves random sampling the random selection of participants, systematic sampling is also another example of probability sampling, but for this article the sampling strategy falls under nonprobability sampling and the picked one being purposive sampling. These researchers from the article selected the sample on purpose because they considered the sample to be appropriate for the study (Costa et al., 2014). From the research Best practice in Promoting Mental Health in Socially Marginalized People in Europe which was referred to as PROMO picked the sample in terms of the organizational characteristics, type of clients, funding arrangements and components of care and also how the systems interconnect to form the system (Costa et al., 2014). This shows a sampling strategy which involved the picking of the appropriate sample for the sample. This falls under quantitative research design as discussed in the study.

Based on your readings, what instruments were used for data collection? Are they of high quality? Was information about reliability and validity provided?

According to Plano Clark & Creswell (2014), the questionnaire was used on online platforms to gather information from the various individuals (p. 283). The process used to develop the questionnaire Delphi which was an online platform where experts from the 14 countries participated in the process hence this ensured that the system was quite reliable and valid for the 14 countries. The polls were open ended allowing the respondents to adequate information on what they understand the relationship that exists between mental health and homelessness. The participations that were chosen for the exercise also had the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas based on the same (Costa et al., 2014). Devices which could access the internet were used and connected to the databases which would be employed by the responded to meet and interact with them. The version of the instrument used was made available to the countries which participated in the research which enabled the assessment of suitability applicability. The device used an enabled collection of an adequate piece of information which promoted the understanding the topic of study. Priebe et al. (2014) ensured that the platform established for the contribution of participants was very efficient since they would participate irrespective of the area of residence.

According to Plano Clark & Creswell (2014), the instrument demonstrated high quality as it ensured that the research had enough information to analyze (pp. 251-270). This is recommendable since the study depended on adequate information which would be used for analysis to come up with a correlation between the two variables, which is mental illness and homelessness. It can, therefore, be seen that instruments succeeded to support the research actually by playing its role in the research. The apparatus supported the exercise up to the end.

The information provided in the case study can be relied on and used for further researchers due to its validity. The research is done by recognized researchers who have been in the field of research for quite a long time hence the information can be trusted. The author also cited some sources which imply that he did a comprehensive research hence the resulting report of the study is an analysis of many works. The information provided in the research covers issue of concern which attracts the attention of many since most people are affected directly. The research has therefore succeeded in gathering information with the appropriate instruments to reach the target audience.

How did the authors ensure that recruitment of participants and data collection procedures were conducted ethically?

The recruitments of the members took an ethical form whereby there were constraints regarding who should be able to participate. The limitations required that an individual who would like to participate must have attained a minimum age of adulthood. This ensured that all arguments generated would be regarded a mature following their establishment from grownups. Plano Clark, V., & Creswell, J. (2014 emphasized that the information about individuals was kept confidential and not shared by unauthorized individuals (p. 270). The participants could only share a general piece of information about mental illness and homelessness. What would injure the reputation of the members were kept confidential and made public. This is because the researcher promised to keep sensitive information between him and the respondents. The researcher, therefore, was able to ensure the prescribed code of conduct in his exercise.

If you cannot determine answers to these questions, what does that suggest about the quality of the article? With all of these factors in mind, what do you assess the overall quality of the piece to be? Will you retain it for your literature review?

The literature has attained a high quality as it encompasses all the required aspects of a research work. It has an appropriate sample size for sufficient information for use in the study. The ethics were also used to inform recruitment of the participants considerably define a quality research which demands that only adults should participate in research responses. It can, therefore, be considered for the future research or any other article writing. It can be used as a sample to guide one in writing an article after carrying out research. The general quality can be evaluated to meet the significant standard.
