South Korea has been and remains to be the leading tourism destination of all time. The country has 33 scenic islands in different parts of the country. Hotel industry and catering departments have had the highest contribution to the economy of South Korea following the high influx of tourists in the country. However, on 8:41 am on 13 June 2017, there was a parcel bomb in the University of Seoul (Kim Da-sol 2017). Seoul is in the central location of South Korea and therefore the fear of subsequent terror attack is high in the country. As a result, Seoul restaurants have experienced a decline in proceeds following the reduction of tourist visiting the restaurants. The secondary review of financial data from other restaurants provides a clear picture regarding the implications of the terror on the hotel industry.

Business Question, aims, and Objectives

The business questions that arise from the recent terror attack in South Korea is that: How can the country restore the trust of the tourist following the attack? Will Seoul restaurant reinstate the business to the original revenue collection level?

The objectives of this study include: to (a) Establish the economic effect of terror in Seoul restaurant ( b) find out ways to restore a positive image of tourism in South Korean following the many terror attacks. The data collections involve the review of the financial changes in Seoul restaurant after the previous terror attack.

Literature review

Terror attack in a tourist destination causes and insecurity and reduces the number of tourists visiting the site. A business that relies on tourism sector such restaurants and hotel industry feel the impacts of the decline in the tourism visits (Horner, & Swarbrooke, 2016). The ideas from the positivist guide of the information collection framework. Auguste Comte is the proponent of the positivist theory and advocates for the scientific collection of data to better understand the society (Leiter,2015). According to Comte, research procedures used in the natural sciences allows systematic collection of data that promote running of the society and human experiences. South Korea as tourism destination requires a change of international image to attract more tourists. Grounded theory is set to provide a suitable framework for the research. According to the theorist, the procedure for the collection of data includes the use of interviews observations, literary reviews and viewing and analyzing documentaries about the subject in question (Charmaz. 2014). The ground theory allows the organization of ideas, and themes under investigation for better analysis. The research is a help to Seoul restaurant in the process of restoring a positive image of the tourism industry in South Korea.

Methodology

In secondary research for this study, a systematic review is the most reliable. The method, in this case, involves comparing the financial performances of Seoul restaurant in different time. Besides, reviewing data from secondary sources take short time and is less expensive. The quantitative part of the research in the study allows comparisons of economic figures and in far the effects of different variables on the research questions. In this research, there is a need to review economics data of different of different restaurants in the South Korea to determine the economic effect of the terror attack on the restaurants (Payne,2015). The grounds theory advocates for reviewing results of the previous studies and analysis.
