Kuwait's society is known for having sold ties between its individuals. Families, neighbors, and companions keep up strong and close connections, and everybody is prepared to share and commend events with one another. Every family celebrates as per its capacity. The majority of Kuwait's population practice Islam as their religion. Religious events maintain their importance in Kuwait, and individuals await them with deep and solemn respect. On most religious occasions stores and organizations close their doors and families along with friends trade visits. Ramadan is one of the most important religious occasions in Kuwait, and in most Islamic countries. It is considered to be the holiest month of the year to all Muslims. During Ramadan, people fast from sunrise to sundown following the Muslim calendar, which is based on the movement of the moon. The holy month of Ramadan is not just practiced in Kuwait, but in all Muslim countries and between Muslim individuals around the world. However, each country chooses how to decorate their houses, and what to eat when they break their fast based on their own cultural traditions. Religion in most parts of the world has been known to unify the people of the country; this case is similar with Kuwait and Muslim being the main religion Ramadan is such an important ceremony among the people.

For the Muslim religion, Ramadan is a month of intense prayer dawn to dusk with intense fasting and night fisting. This is a religious function that operates all over the world not only in Kuwait, and almost every Muslim participates in the prayers. The main purpose of the fasting among the Muslims is to bring the faithful closer to God as well as remind them of the less fortunate. This is the time among where the Muslims detach from earthly pleasures and focus mainly on one's inner-self, and tighten their bond with God. Not only in Kuwait but all the Muslim communities the time is seen more of physical and spiritual purification where they refrain from worldly habits such as smoking as well as caffeine. They also do charitable work such as donating to the less fortunate as well as feeding the hungry and more time is spent in the mosque memorizing the Quran. The fasting during Ramadan falls under one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity and performing the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

Observant Muslims within the Kuwait community abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk for the entire month of Ramadan. Serious observation of this is key since a single sip of water or a single puff of cigarette is enough to invalidate the entire fast. Ramadan has both political, economic and social impact on the Muslims such as no arguments among them during the period hence the politicians, for instance, are to maintain a low profile concerning one another with fewer arguments as possible. The social life of the Muslims is affected as well, sexual intercourse among spouse, for instance, is not allowed during the daytime of fasting. Before fasting, the Muslim communities have a pre-dawn meal of powdered foods as a family or community to get them through the day, in some parts of the world it is referred to as suhoor, good examples apart from Kuwait include Egypt where they eat mashed fava beans referred to as flu which is spiced with cumin and olive while other places such as Lebanon and Syria have flatbread with thyme, accompanied by cheese or yogurt. All these events bring the family closer to each other as they share these meals. The bonds within the families and the communities strengthen the bond with God also strengthens.

There is a tight connection between what the Muslims do when breaking the fast, just as prophet Muhammad did some 1400 years ago by a sip of water and some dates at sunset, Muslim communities in Kuwait practice this as well as all the other Muslims around the world. The sip of water is one of the most anticipated moments of the day. After sunset, the Muslim are allowed to eat where a large feast is prepared and its referred to as iftar' and it's shared among friends and family. In Kuwait, the family is the key concept of the community and families have strong bonds with the other families and neighbors hence this meal is mostly shared among a number of families. Within the Kuwait Muslim family, one can be excepted from fasting in special cases such as children, the pregnant women, those who may have been ill, nursing or menstruating. Most of the Muslim society who live in the United States and European countries since they are welcoming.

The end of Ramadan is one of the most celebrated among the Muslim by intense worship as Muslims seek to have their prayers answered during Laylat al-Qadr or the Night of Destiny the Muslims believe that God sent angel Gabriel to the prophet Muhammad and revealed the first verse of the Quran. The end of Ramadan is celebrated for three days in all the Muslim countries especially in Kuwait the holiday is referred to as Eid al-Fitr. The children often receive gifts, new clothes, and cash a thing which happens all over the Muslim communities. Muslim attend early morning prayers the day after Ramadan. Families in Kuwait spend time in parks and celebrations all over. Ramadan unifies the entire religion all over the world and strengthens the communitys religion. Kuwait has religion holding together the community.
