Homicide crime scene investigation is one of the critical police activities that primarily focus on carefully gathering leads and pieces of evidence that can be eventually used to know what happened. In the given case, there are various objects and trifles of crime indicators that must be collected without manipulations and subjected to comprehensive forensic analysis. A supplementary fingerprint identification system called the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) will be used to establishing matches between the collected fingerprints from the scene of the crime with others contained in a computer database.

With the absence of any real-time recording gadget such as a closed-circuit television that can provide footages of the crime scene, it is difficult to isolate between the criminal and mere witnesses. Therefore, within the concept of criminal justice, everyone in the scene including the first officer, the mother, and small child who have been mentioned as witnesses of the homicide will be all interrogated (Geberth, 2015). Based on the substance of their testimonies it will be possible to determine whether such accounts are merely those seen or an attempt to mislead the investigation team. Furthermore, the fingerprints and other bio-data of the people within the scene will be taken and stored for comparison with the forensic data obtained after analysis of materials collected from the scene (Geberth, 2015). A critical investigation of leads compared to information provided by the people within the scene will easily implicate them or prove their innocence.
