Introduction of rationale
The Greats Gatsby, its a novel written by an American author known as Scott Fitzgerald, in 1925. The novel focus on a character named Jay Gatsby (Phelan, 61-81). In this novel, I used various themes to bring out his idea. In the book, Gatsby is described as a wealthy and educated socialite from Oxford which pronounces the theme of materialism. Extravagant yellow car and gothic monstrosity mansion are some of the wealth accumulated by Gatsby. In the novel calls himself Son of God, the quote attempts to hide his humble begging but rather to convey an elite character that he had from East Egg (Fitzgerald).Gatsby inner hidden personalities are described by the devices image and even color novel cover page. Green white blue and black colors purposefully design the site as aesthetics. The green color represents Gatsby hope for his future and his interpretation of the American dream; green color also symbolizes yearning for the past which is his concept vision for the future. Cant repeat the past. Why of course you can! is the conversation with Nick which he states (Weinstein). The blue color describes the illusion. Hidden moral decay and fake wealth and prosperity are some of the fantasy portrayed by Gatsby.
Theme of money and materialism
The theme of Money and materialism is well established in The Great Gatsby novel, whereby. In the life of Nick, he establishes himself as someone in life with many advantages. To name just two, an ivy league education and a wealthy family (Harvey, 12 -20). In chapter 1 Tom and Daisy invite Gatsby to their home, despite not being as wealthy as them. Wear the gold hat as a way to impress his lover as stated in the book, it implores the theme of money and materialism; love is equated to wealth
The money supports Tom and Daisys movements. East Egg is fashionable estate where in the begging of the novel they move to. They were also found in areas where people played polo and were rich together. Thanks to their money they were able to leave at the end of the book quickly before their murders (Phelps, 31-39). Never seen such a beautiful shirts Daisy breaks down after Gatsby shows off his ridiculously expensive set of colored shirts during her affair with Gatsby.
Gatsby enormous wealth makes him very notorious among his peers. He wins Daisy because of his wealth he gathers. At the age of 17, Gatsby stuck out with Dan Codys property despite being born from poor farmers parents in (North& Joss, 3). "Fitzgerald, Gatsby. Before shipping out to world war one, he was able to charmed Daisy from what he had learned from wealthy society. Gatsby, he intended to win Daisy over by involving himself in crime with Meyer to quickly accumulate wealth after realizing Daisy was married and gone.
People were attracted to Gatsbys parties and wealthy thats why they never showed up to Gatsby funeral. One gentleman whom Nick telephoned stated that he got what he deserved. Moreover, that was Nicks faults, for he was the one who sneered most bitterly at Gatsby and Nick should have known better than call him
Judgmental and arrogant of the upper-class is the negative impression from the start of the novel. By criticizing others, Nick considered himself more significant than others his father stated that Whenever you feel like criticizing others (RuleMaxwell, 51-78). Just remember that all the people havent had advantages you have had. Money can change the moral standards of individuals. Gatsby does not enjoy the parties though he spends a significant amount of money to fund them. By this he lets everyone know how rich he is. Wearing pink suits with gold ties was a way to get Daisy attention which seemed to be more important to him.
Carelessness is what money can make people be. The money would protect Tom and Daisy forever who were both careless people (Bryer& Margolies& Prigozy). Other people would clean the mess which the made them too. Tom neither loved Myrtle, but they had an affair. The quality of Myrtle life would improve because of money.
Everything and anything can be accomplished in America because it has been labeled the land of opportunity. Materialism America dream is the state of mind. Material improvement and spiritual are the desires in which they originate. F .Scott Fitzgerald s novel is a setting of materialism America. Characters in this book lose the sight of what is important but rather fixed to material things. Zealous obsession and empty hope is the downward spiral in which The Great Gatsby takes the materialistic attitude.
The materialistic attitude show by Fitzgerald uses Jay Gatsby to demonstrate the stupidity in which he spends his entire adult life raising his standards so that to attract Daisy Buchanon attention (Kuehl &Scott, 412-426) Gatsby falls in love with everything about daisy, the writer states that Gatsby founded Daisy desirable, he had gone to her house, and there had been a ripe mystery about it.
