This article addresses the prevalence of obesity in adult women. According to the author, there is a strong relationship between maternal weight retention and excessive gestational weight gain (GWG). The authors compared the estimated obesity prevalence between gestational weight gain and under hypothetical intervention that every woman with excessive gestational weight gain. In the result, it was observed that women were in their obese category by the age of 40 years. The article is important to my results because it results support the view that pregnancy is pivotal time to address issues with obesity.

The focus of this study is on documenting childhood obesity legislative activity with guarantee states compared with the nonguaranteed states. In the study, the authors used LexisNexis State Capital in identifying bills as well as resolutions associated with childhood obesity which was introduced in all the 50 states between 2012 and 2013. Their results show that the number of childhood obesity bills introduced and enacted increased. There was, however no change seen among non-grantee states. The article is important for my research because it focuses on advocating state-level legislation which addresses the problem of childhood obesity.

The article addresses the issue of childhood obesity among low-income preschool aged children. The authors note that recent studies drawing on nationally representative data from NHANES have shown no signs of change in childhood obesity prevalence among children aged 2 to 9 years. Their research showed that AI/AN children in this population had a high prevalence of obesity compared to US children the same age. For my study, this research will help me provide reasons for the higher obesity prevalence in AI/AN children, which is a new phenomenon in recent years.

This article examines the relationship between multiple aspects of the food environment and obesity. The researchers focused on food, neighborhood, and environment as leading factors of overweight and obesity. Being one of its kinds, the study will help me in examining the roles of food at home and in the neighborhood environment in relation to overweight and obesity prevalence.

This article offers a solution to the prevalence of obesity. According to the authors, obesity, and overweight among school-aged children in the United States remains high. However, physical education is a good way of controlling the prevalence of obesity. In the study, the authors introduced various programs such as EE, PA, and PE. Their conclusion adds to my research the benefits of PA, PE, and EE for controlling overweight and obesity.
